Best Ski Resorts in Albania & Kosovo: Winter Sports Guide
Discover winter sports in Albania and Kosovo — from the emerging ski scene at Dardhë-Korçë to Brezovica and beyond. Affordable skiing in untouched mountain settings.
Winter Sports in Albania & Kosovo
Albania and Kosovo are not yet on most skiers' radar, but that's precisely what makes them exciting. These countries offer affordable skiing in beautiful, uncrowded mountain settings — a stark contrast to the packed resorts of the Alps. While the infrastructure is still developing, the experience of skiing in the Albanian and Kosovar mountains is authentic and adventurous.
The ski season typically runs from December to March, with the best snow conditions in January and February.
Dardhë, Korçë Region (Albania)
Dardhë is Albania's most established ski area, located 25 km east of Korçë at an elevation of 1,350 meters. The village is set in a pine forest with traditional stone houses and a cozy mountain atmosphere.
- Ski area: Bigëll ski center (3 km from Dardhë), with 2 ski lifts and several runs suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers.
- Lift pass: Approximately 1,500–2,000 ALL (€12–16) per day.
- Equipment rental: Available on-site, approximately 2,000 ALL (€16) per day for full set.
- Accommodation: Several guesthouses and small hotels in Dardhë village, from 3,000–6,000 ALL (€24–50) per night.

Brezovica (Kosovo)
Brezovica is the premier ski resort in Kosovo, located on the Sharr Mountains (Malet e Sharrit) about 70 km south of Prishtina. At 1,718–2,500 meters elevation, it offers the most developed skiing infrastructure in the region.
- Ski area: 4 chair lifts, multiple runs from beginner to advanced, total skiable terrain of approximately 10 km.
- Lift pass: €15–20 per day — a fraction of Alpine resort prices.
- Conditions: Good natural snow cover from December to March. No artificial snow making yet.
- Accommodation: Hotels ranging from €30–80/night. Also consider staying in Prizren (40 minutes) for a more complete city experience.
Development: Significant investment is planned to modernize Brezovica — new lifts, hotels, and snowmaking infrastructure. Check current conditions before visiting.
Voskopojë (Albania)
Voskopojë is a historic village at 1,160 meters elevation, 21 km west of Korçë. While not primarily a ski resort, it offers excellent cross-country skiing and snowshoeing through beautiful beech forests. In the 18th century, Voskopojë was one of the largest cities in the Balkans with over 35,000 inhabitants — today it's a quiet village famous for its medieval churches with remarkable frescoes.
